Welcome to the Durham Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends ("Quakers").

 

 

  Our “original meeting house”.   A building completed in July 2004 and located behind this view now houses our meeting room, library and fellowship room.

6 (Sat) 5:30 – 8:00 pm Pot luck supper and INTERGENERATIONAL forum; Fun & Interactive ! ALL Friends welcome, young & old.  Forum facilitated by FGC Youth Ministries Committee.  Meetinghouse fellowship room & Kitchen.

6 (Sat) 5:30 – 7:30 pm Soup, Spirit & Song. CANCELLED so that participants, kids & parents, can attend pot-luck supper & intergenerational forum listed above.

7 (Sun) 10:00 – 11:45 am Junior Meeting for Business. Historic Meetinghouse, entire building.

7 (Sun) 11:20 – 11:40 am Introduction to Durham Friends Meeting: Questions & Answers. Meetinghouse worship room.

7 (Sun) 11:30 am – 3:00 pm DFM First Day school teachers & DFM Youth Ministry volunteers are invited to join Friends General Conference Youth Ministries Committee for lunch (provided) followed by a question & answer session about safety issues. Historic meetinghouse, entire building.

10 (Wed) 7:30 – 9:00 pm Mid-week Worship & Discussion. Meetinghouse library.

11 (Thu) 7:00 – 8:30 pm Earthcare Committee meeting. Historic meetinghouse, south room.

12 (Fri) 5:30 – 9:00 pm Annual DFM Kick-off Pot-Luck Supper [just to enjoy each other’s company]. Meetinghouse, entire building.

13 (Sat) 9:00 am – 3:30 pm  Annual Durham Friends Meeting Retreat: “What does it mean to be a Quaker today”. Morning & afternoon workshops. Lunch provided. CHANGE: At the Meetinghouse. (Not at CFS)

14 (Sun) 11:45 am – 2:00 pm  Meeting for Business. Meetinghouse worship room.

17 (Wed) 7:30 – 9:00 pm Mid-week Worship & Discussion. Meetinghouse library.

21 (Sun) 11:20 am – 12:30 pm  Friendly 8s Kick-off pot-luck lunch [bring finger foods like sandwiches, fruit & veggies, dip, cheese, cold cuts, etc.] Group members sit together & discuss the nature & meeting time of their group. Meetinghouse fellowship room & kitchen.

21 (Sun) 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm  Global Warming course (session 2 of 4) Sponsored by DFM Earthcare Committee & developed by Northwest Earth Institute. Historic meetinghouse, south room.

22 (Mon) 6:00 – 9:00 pm Immigrant Solidarity Committee. Co-sponsored by American Friends Service Committee & DFM-Peace & Social Concerns Committee. Meetinghouse worship room. Child care available.

24 (Wed) 7:30 – 9:00 pm Mid-week Worship & Discussion. Meetinghouse library.

26 (Fri) 6:00 – 8:00 pm Pot Luck Supper for ALL past and present participants in Northwest Earth Institute courses [Voluntary Simplicity, Global Warming] and those interested in future NWI course offerings. Historic meetinghouse, entire building.

Sat., Feb. 27,  5:30 - 8:30 pm  Pot luck supper followed by a talk about discerning and supporting leadings, by Eileen Flanagan, Quaker author of the book, The Wisdom to Know the Difference: When to Make a Change and When to Let Go.  All Friends are welcome.  Meetinghouse worship room &  fellowship room.

28 (Sun) 8:30 – 9:50 am Ministry & Counsel Committee meeting. Historic meetinghouse, north room.

28 (Sun) 11:45 am - 1:00 pm  Adult Ed Forum: “Second Journeys: Rethinking our purpose in later life”. Facilitator: Bolton Anthony, founder of Second Journey, a non-profit whose focus is , “Mindfulness, service, and community in the second half of life”.

·              11:45am:                 Forum or other event if scheduled (see panel to right).  Forum is sometimes  followed by a potluck meal.

·       Wednesday, 7:30 - 9:00pm (except the first Wednesday of the month): Mid-Week Meeting for Worship and Discussion, Library.
