Buildings & Grounds Committee

 

Mission:                          Members are responsible for the stewardship of the physical facilities of the Meeting buildings and the surrounding grounds, and for insuring the physical comfort of attenders at meeting for worship and other meeting occasions.

 

Number of members:  Six to eight appointed by Nominating Committee, plus interested members and attenders.

 

Term of Commitment: Appointed members serve staggered two-year terms.

 

Duties:                            Maintain the physical facilities of the meetinghouse and grounds, and plan at least one Meeting workday per year, as needed.  Maintain open communication with Facilities Committee of Carolina Friends School Board to see that the mutual responsibilities regarding the property and safety of people using the meetinghouse are clearly defined and attended to.

 

Make arrangements for volunteers to set up chairs and maintain the comfort of the meeting room on first-day mornings.

 

Qualifications:   Members of this committee should have some of these qualifications:

·        Prudence with money

·        Skill and handiness with tools

·        Knowledge about maintenance

·        Live close enough to meetinghouse to attend emergencies and to check on housekeeping

 

Frequency of Commitment:  As needed, approximately every 2 to 3 months.
