Mission: Provides fiscal
oversight to the work of the Treasurer and advice and direction to the Meeting
to insure its financial obligations are met in good order.
Number of
members: Four appointed by Nominating Committee, plus
theTreasurer, ex officio.
Term of
Commitment: Appointed members serve staggered two-year terms.
Duties:

Assisting, advising,
and working with the Treasurer;

Projecting Meeting
membership, needs, and resources, and proposing an annual budget each year
consistent with those projections;
·
Maintaining adequate
insurance against liability and hazard;
·
Considering long-range
financial planning;
·
Giving leadership to
fund raising;
·
Overseeing Meeting
accounts including the General Fund, the Building Fund, the Emergency Fund, and
such others as the Meeting may create.
·
The Finance Committee
is empowered to authorize the Treasurer to make payments from the Emergency
Fund for needs too critical to wait for approval by business meeting.
Qualifications: Fiscal
responsibility, fund-raising interest and ability, and business skills are
welcome in Committee members. Members
should be familiar with the traditions and values associated with the Religious
Society of Friends, and with the history and traditions of Durham Monthly
Meeting. Committee members should have
demonstrated a long-term commitment to Durham Monthly Meeting, but membership
in the Meeting is not required.
Frequency of Commitment: Quarterly,
or as called.
